Our presentation will focus on the combined attempts by different key music and software companies to ensure copyright enforcement for online music downloads.
Digital Rights Management is an attempt to limit access and prevent the copying of protected files. DRM is supposed to ensure that owners of IP do not have people accessing their work for free.
Here is a short outline of the topics we will cover:
- History of DRM development
- Current players in DRM as well as past failures
- Different uses in entertainment (movies, mp3 files, etc.)
- Disruptive problems with DRM usage
- Attempts to govern DRM development
