Expected Outcomes:

  • We will explore the role of electronic payment processors and payment gateway systems (ex. PayPal).
  • We will also be going over how the electronic credit card payments flow thru the banking system.
  • Our report will extend to talk about the role of PCI DSS, especially how they ensure security for credit card payments?

Definitions:

Electronic Payment System
shall mean a payment system operating with electronic money.

  2. of or pertaining to electrons or to an electron.
  3. of, pertaining to, or controlled by computers, or computer products and services.

pay·ment
  1. something that is paid; an amount paid; compensation; recompense.
  2. the act of paying.
  3. reward or punishment; requital.

sys·tem
  1. an assemblage or combination of things or parts forming a complex or unitary whole: a mountain system; a railroad system.
  2. any assemblage or set of correlated members: a system of currency; a system of shorthand characters.
  3. a coordinated body of methods or a scheme or plan of procedure; organizational scheme: a system of government.
  4. any formulated, regular, or special method or plan of procedure: a system of marking, numbering, or measuring; a winning system at bridge.
  5. Computers. a working combination of hardware, software, and data communications devices.
  6. due method or orderly manner of arrangement or procedure: There is no system in his work.
